Artist's Description

The Ibanez hollow body electric, also called semi-acoustic and semi-hollow body guitars, were generally praised for their clean and warm tones. This led to widespread use throughout the jazz communities in the 1930s. As new models came out with sleeker designs, the guitars began to make their way into popular circles. The guitar became used in pop, folk, and blues. The guitars made an extensive amount of feedback when played through an amplifier at a loud level, this made the guitars unpopular for bands playing in large stages who had to play loud enough to fill their venues. As rock became more experimental, towards the late 60s and 70s the guitar became more popular because of its feedback issues which led to "wilder" sounds.

About Greg Kopriva

Greg Kopriva

I have been a photographer for many years, it basically started when I was about 12, taking snaps around the house with a Brownie. I studied Photography at East Texas State University, now Texas A&M-Commerce, and have been working professionally ever since. My main method of earning a living is commercial photography, and I also teach a variety of age and skill levels. The images shown here reflect my love of the craft, mostly things that I do in my spare time. I shot film when we didn't have computers and Photoshop, so it's very important for me to get the best possible image out of the camera with little manipulation. I hope you enjoy this body of work, and thank you for visiting. GK **Buy Photographic Prints by Greg Kopriva,...
